Boulder County Public Health, or BCPH, held its last COVID Community update yesterday. Should a need arise, the county will resume updates.
Lexi Nolen, interim BCPH executive director, reported 206,562 or 71.2% of eligible Boulder County residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine. This includes residents 12-years-old and older.
As a result, the county has seen a decrease to an average of 4.1 cases over a seven-day period, also decreasing the county’s positivity rate to 1.1%.
Vaccine administration by race and ethnicity has increased as the county has made access easier and as hesitancy is becoming less of a factor, Nolen said.
In the chart below, the number in parenthesis indicates the number of unvaccinated individuals per group.
The increased vaccinations and lower case rates pushed the county into Level Clear on May 16. Level Clear does not place restrictions on businesses. However, businesses can still ask patrons to wear masks.
The local chambers of commerce offer business owners access to signs that help signal to patrons the rules of the facility.
If an outbreak at a business occurs, Boulder County may have to step in to close the business until the situation is under control, according to Lane Drager, program coordinator for Boulder County.
“It is in the best interest of any business to proactive as possible to prevent the spread of the disease,” Drager said.
The county encourages patrons to be respectful and kind to businesses that continue to require masking.
