Boulder County officials want the public to comment on a proposed soft-surface regional trail connection along the RTD-owned rail corridor linking the city of Boulder and Town of Erie.
Officials want to reach as many connected stakeholders as possible as the county puts together its master plan for the trail, according to a Boulder County news release. The public engagement process will help the county better understand the benefits and impact a trail could have on the local area.
A trail stretching from Boulder to Erie was identified in the county’s trail prioritization process in 2003 and is eligible for funding the Countywide Sales Tax Ballot passed by voters in 2007, according to the news release.
RTD supports Boulder County using the former Union Pacific Rail line corridor between Boulder and Erie, which is now owned by RTD, for a multi-use trail, the news release states. “A multitude of community groups are supportive of the proposal, including cyclists, runners, walkers, equestrians, commuters and recreationists,” the release states.
Anyone wanting to comment on the trail can go to the project webpage.
