On Thursday morning, Silver Valley High School was evacuated from the building due to a fire alarm.
The Longmont Fire Department arrived on the scene and determined that the fire alarm was the result of a malfunctioning smoke detector in the aquatic center of the building, according to Kerri McDermid, the chief of St. Vrain Valley School District communications.
The evacuation caused students and faculty to be out of the building for approximately 15 minutes, McDermid said.
