Chamber puts out call to community to donate needed items for firefighters

Donations will be collected today through tomorrow afternoon at Longmont Walmart locations. Look for the Longmont Chamber A-frame signs.

The Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking to rally local residents to lend a hand to feed firefighters battling blazes in the Estes Park area.

In an email sent Wednesday afternoon, the chamber stated “The Estes Park Chamber of Commerce reports that they are low on food to feed the firefighters” and put out the call for high-protein, low-carb and low-sugar snack bars, meat sticks, low-carb energy drinks (light blue is a favorite) and Smartwool gloves, hats, socks (in that order).

The Chamber also is seeking donations of Halloween candy for our kids in the Red Cross shelters, according to the email.

Donations will be collected today through tomorrow afternoon at Longmont Walmart locations, 2514 Main St. and 2285 E. Ken Pratt Blvd. Look for the Longmont Chamber A-frame signs.

“We know it's an incredibly tight timeline, so we really appreciate any support you can give,” the Longmont Chamber stated in its email.
