Longmont City Council will be back in person Tuesday night for the first time in over a year since the COVID-19 pandemic prompted council members to conduct meetings online.

Besides seeing each other in person, the public will be allowed to address the council during public invited to be heard and public hearing segments of the meeting. Since COVID-19 restrictions were imposed, the public was asked to call into council meetings to talk about issues.

Anyone hoping to speak to the city council in person are asked to add their names to the public invited to be heard list located outside of council chambers before 6:45 p.m. The council chambers are located inside the Longmont Civic Center at 350 Kimbark Street.

Residents also can call in to speak. Call-in speakers will be heard after in-person speakers, according to the council agenda. Callers must watch the livestream of the meeting and call-in only when the council chairperson opens the meeting for public comment using instructions.

Among the issues the council will consider Tuesday night include:

  • A first reading of a short-term rental ordinance. The proposed ordinance includes additional requirements for residency verification when a homeowner seeks a short-term rental license. Criteria has been added to the ordinance which provides for properties with nuisance violations to be investigated and their licenses be revoked.
  • Consider a resolution related to Accessory Dwelling Units, including updating size requirements for ADUs and revising definitions for ADUs.
  • Consider areas in Longmont to receive Neighborhood Improvement Grants for various local projects including public art and new landscaping.
