Colorado Avenue will be closed to eastbound and westbound traffic at its intersection with South Pratt Parkway for approximately one and a half weeks beginning Monday, April 30. The closure is to allow crews to complete storm sewer connections across the intersection.
Replacing water lines and making stormwater quality improvements are part of the
South Pratt Parkway Bridge replacement project, which is underway in the area.
All businesses along Colorado Avenue will remain accessible via alternate routes going west on Delaware Avenue off of South Pratt Parkway or north on South Bowen Street off of Ken Pratt Boulevard.
Additionally, a small portion of the St. Vrain Greenway will be closed beginning Thursday, April 26, to accommodate water line work in the area. The closure, which will be located south of the South Pratt Parkway Bridge between it and the pedestrian bridge, will remain in place until the project is
completed.
Greenway users seeking access to South Pratt Parkway will be routed over the existing greenway detour: across the pedestrian bridge east of the South Pratt Parkway Bridge and then west along Boston Avenue to South Pratt Parkway. At that point, users can continue along South Pratt Parkway or cross the road to follow a temporary path until they are returned to the Greenway. Periodic trail closures along this route can be expected for equipment crossing the path.
Project Overview
The South Pratt Parkway Bridge was built in the late 1970s and is too narrow for traffic
volumes that now cross it daily. The new bridge will be wider to safely carry traffic and to provide pedestrian and cyclist facilities along both sides, as well as to safely pass 100-year flood flows of the St. Vrain Creek.
Bridge replacement work is anticipated to continue through September.
