The City Council seeks applications from citizens interested in serving on boards, committees or commissions through a bi-annual recruiting process. Look for listings around September and April of each year on the cities Current Vacancies page. For information about the duties and responsibilities of the boards and commissions, please visit the board's page.
QUALIFICATIONS: You must be a registered voter within the city limits of Longmont for one year prior to being appointed. Only a few boards have special qualifications for serving*. All positions are on a volunteer basis and are non-paying.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
- Please follow the link below to apply online. You will see a confirmation page thanking you for submitting your application after you click "Submit". If you do not see this confirmation page, please call the City Clerk's Office to confirm your application has been received. Please Note: A separate application must be filled out for each individual board on which you wish to serve.
- After the application deadline, all applications are collected and an interview date is set.
- City Clerk's Staff will contact you to schedule an interview time. Interviews are typically panel style with those Council Members available that particular day and last 5-10 minutes. This brief interview allows Council Members to meet applicants face-to-face. If you are not able to attend the interviews, you are welcome to contact Council Members directly to discuss your qualifications.
- City Clerk's Staff will schedule Board and Commission appointments for a Regular Session in June or December. At the scheduled meeting, Council will vote on the applicants and make appointments. Applicants are not required to attend the Council meeting at which appointments are made but are of course welcome to attend if they wish.
- Applicants are contacted the day after appointments if they were appointed. Those members not appointed will receive written notification within one week of the appointments.
For any questions, please contact the City Clerk’s office at (303) 651-8649.
