Carmen Ramirez, Longmont’s community and neighborhood resources manager, will now split time with Boulder County Public Health, or BCPH, to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ramirez will co-lead a vaccine equity initiative to erase disparities in COVID vaccinations among priority populations in Boulder County. The Longmont City Council approved Ramirez’s new assignment Tuesday night by a unanimous vote.

Ramirez will commit half of her time toward Boulder County’s vaccine effort for a seven-month period. BCPH has agreed to pay Longmont $49,999 for Ramirez’s time, according to a city staff report.

The city will use the funds to help “backfill” Ramirez’s work managing other important functions provided by the Community and Neighborhood Resources Division.

Ramirez’s work with BCPH will help ensure that all community members will have equitable access to and receive their COVID-19 vaccines, the staff report states.
