In April 2019, the City of Longmont hosted a stakeholders meeting to discuss new City of Longmont Branding/ Identity Refresh and Wayfinding.

When Mairjke Unger, Citywide Communications Manager, began working for the City of Longmont, she was tasked to learn more about the city's communication efforts.

Her findings included identifying that the City of Longmont "doesn't really have a brand," states Unger, an update to the City of Longmont website is needed, the social media strategy needs an update, and a look into the digital asset management around the city.

Guide Studio presented council with a possible City of Longmont updated mark. This mark is still in development and is being looked at from different angles across the City of Longmont, according to Unger.

As a way to cut costs and be environmentally conscious, city staff is suggesting that the materials with the former mark be used and the new brand materials replace the older ones.

The group is also looking to retain the current mark as a City Seal.

In addition to updating the brand, the City of Longmont is adding signage around town to help tell Longmont's story.

Council member Waters asked about the ROI for the rebranding. Unger mentioned that the largest impact of rebranding is that city staff will have one set of materials to work from, across the city, and that will free up time for staff members and departments to do other things. Currently, different departments and staff create their own materials which results in a non-cohesive look.

City Manager, Harold Dominguez, suggested that a unified look has a large impact on people looking at the City. It lets people know that the different departments of the City of Longmont are working together to build the community.

These groups hope to present final suggests to council in October or November 2019.
