Damage discovered early this morning will cause delays at Colo. 66 in both directions at Erfert and Alpine streets, Longmont Public Safety announced in a Facebook post. Alternate routes are advised.
Traffic, which is backed up, will be allowed through the area of the damage about 20 cars at a time in each direction of travel, according to the post.
Police officers found the damage and notified Burlington Northern and Santa Fe and the Colorado Department of Transportation, and the Longmont Emergency Unit was directing traffic at the location. Colo. 66 will be closed in both directions until 8 p.m., according to the post.
