Colorado will make history again. In this case, Colorado’s newest pro sports team, the Colorado Summit, will be the first professional team to sport the logo of a legal cannabis company on their jerseys. The Colorado Summit is an expansion professional ultimate disc team in the American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL).
The Summit’s season starts on Saturday, May 7th in Seattle at 6 PM MT. All of their games can be streamed online on AUDL.TV. The Summit will play their first home game on Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday, May 28th at 7 PM at the University of Denver’s Peter Barton Stadium (at the base of the DU clocktower). Fox Sports will be broadcasting two of the Colorado Summit’s home games live nationally on FS2 this season. Tickets to all home games can be purchased at TheColoradoSummit.com. Ultimate is the fastest growing team sport in the world was created just in 1969, but is now played by over 8 million players in over 100 countries. The fast-paced, high-flying sport is also in consideration to be admitted to the 2028 Olympics.
The American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL) concluded its 10th season in 2021, playing its championship weekend in Washington, DCs Audi Stadium broadcast nationally on FS1. AUDL highlights frequently make ESPN’s Top Ten list. The Colorado Summit will be the first professional ultimate team to call the Centennial State home; and will be one of 25 teams from across the US and Canada to play in the AUDL.
The Colorado Summit will also hold youth clinics throughout the summer and outreach to underprivileged communities to provide opportunities for new kids to get introduced to ultimate and meet the professional athletes. The team has already made two visits to the Youthful Offender System prison to provide clinics to young men and women housed by the Department of Corrections.
