The Boulder Jewish Community Center (JCC) will host a gathering and vigil this evening to support and honor those who have been impacted by an attack that occurred on June 1 on Pearl Street. The attack was targeted at individuals who were members of “Run for Their Lives,” which organizes weekly walks to call attention to the Israeli hostages in Gaza. Twelve people are known to have been injured in the attack and all of them expected to survive, according to Boulder Police Chief Steve Redfearn.

The event, called “Coming Together: A Community Gathering,” will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the JCC, located at 6007 Oreg Avenue, in Boulder. From 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the community will have time for “connection,” then from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the program will take place.

The gathering is free, but JCC asks that all attendees register online beforehand. The event will also be livestreamed at 5:30 p.m.

The JCC said on the event page that safety is a top priority at the event. “Out of an abundance of caution, enhanced security protocols will be implemented, along with an increased presence from local law enforcement and hired security professionals,” JCC said.

The JCC asked the public to refrain from bringing large bags, water bottles, flags, signs, or banners to the event. They said that all attendees will be subject to potential search (including wanding) and that unwilling individuals will be asked to leave for the safety and security of all attendees.
