Boulder County Commissioners Tuesday unanimously endorsed Longmont Ballot Issue 3C, which allows the city to borrow $20 million for improvements to the St. Vrain Creek drainageway.

The commissioners Tuesday voted to support several, Boulder County local municipal ballot initiatives that will be on the November ballot.

The ballot measures the commissioners support “speak to public policy goals and priorities identified by the Commissioners as important to the residents of Boulder County,” according to a county news release.

If passed, 3C will provide funding for the Resilient St. Vrain Project, which came about as a result of the 2013 flood. The funding will, among other things, construct infrastructure to help protect areas of Longmont from future flooding, according to the news release.

The county’s state legislative agenda provides the rationale for a position to support Longmont Issue 3C. Specifically, the county “backs proactive programs and efforts that improve the resilience and adaptability of Colorado communities in the face of natural disasters and other major challenges associated with climate change,” the news release states.
