Community Solutions forum to zero in on sustainable transportation

The summit will virtually convene industry experts to explore interactions between humans, transportation and the environment and regional sustainability.

The relationship between surging growth and the environment will be the focus of a virtual Sustainable Transportation Summit presented next week by Commuting Solutions.

The Sustainable Transportation Summit “is an opportunity to hear from thought leaders and communities who are making a difference in transportation and land use,” Audrey DeBarros, executive director of the Louisville-based Commuting Solutions, stated in a news release.

The summit will virtually convene industry experts to explore interactions between humans, transportation and the environment and regional sustainability, DeBarros stated in the release. She also highlighted the importance of quick action on that front as Gov. Jared Polis’ administration contemplates how Colorado will achieve the greenhouse gas reduction goals established in HB-1261

HB-1261, also known as the Climate Action Plan To Reduce Pollution, sets a statewide goal to reduce 2025 greenhouse gas emissions by at least 26% of 2005 levels; 2030 greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50%, and 2050 greenhouse gas emissions by at least 90%.

Patricia Romero-Lankao from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Center for Integrated Mobility Sciences will be the keynote speaker at the summit, which will be from 8 to 11 a.m. Nov. 18. Tickets are $45. For additional information, as well as an agenda, click here.

Commuting Solutions is an advocacy group that aims to deliver innovative transportation options that connect commuters to their workplaces, businesses to their employees and residents to their communities, according to the release.

A major focus of Commuting Solutions is making improvements on  Colo. 119  between Longmont and Boulder.
