Dear Readers,

I hope each of you has a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday. Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays. To me, there is nothing better than gathering with family and friends and eating too much delicious food. This year I am especially blessed to have some of my family visiting me in Colorado. This week will be filled with fun, laughter and pizza on the moon. (My 5-year-old niece asked to go on an adventure to the moon, who am I to say no to that.)

There is much more that I am thankful for this year though. One of those things is you, our readers, our members and our sponsors. Your contributions and faith in us has let us move into our own office space. Thank you all for your unrelenting support.

Most importantly, I am grateful for the Longmont Observer staff. Our staff is run completely on volunteers. Yes, you read that right. Our staff donates their own time to bring you Longmont’s news every day. They do it because they believe that local news is important and want to keep Longmont's news from going away, as local news has done in so many small communities.

As Editor-in-chief, I get to work with each of these amazing people each day and treasure the time they share with me. I want to take a moment to share my gratitude for each member of our staff.

Scott Converse--Thank you for your honesty, compassion, patience and willingness to teach.

Sergio R. Angeles--Thank you for your youthful energy and fresh ideas, for keeping us on our toes and for pushing for more.

Lisa Barber-Taylor--To Lisa, I am most grateful for her constant support and positive attitude. Thank you also for always being open for another challenge.

Adam Steininger--Thank you for the way you use words to tell Longmont's stories. Your way with words makes me want to be a better writer.

Matt Steininger--Thank you for your positive attitude and jolly disposition. You bring energy to a room and use your creative mind to keep us improving.

Rick Brennan--Thank you, Rick, for your amazing photos, your unrelenting patience and your ability to see where help is needed most.

Shakeel Dalal--Shakeel is not just one of our opinion columnists. He is our most opinionated columnist. I am not talking about the views he shares with you. He is unafraid to share his opinion on all matters. I personally admire this about him. Those opinions are always given in a way that remains positive, creates thought and sometimes change. Thank you, Shakeel, for reminding us all to think and to create for the better.

Christi Yoder-- Thank you for always making time to write and contribute on the difficult assignments. Your kindness and compassion are very appreciated, especially on days of doubt.

Chris Yoder-- Thank you for always being willing to tackle the crazy ideas I throw at you. I am sure there will be many many more and the fact that you approach them all with a sense of humor makes it fun to see just how crazy those ideas can get.

John Ensworth--Thank you for tirelessly bringing the weather to us every day and for all of your hard work.

Anthony Maine--Thank you for helping us understand what is happening at a state level and for looking into some grant opportunities for us.

Mariana Vazquez-- Thank you for taking time from your senior year to help us write.

Ben Mills-- Thank you for your youthful energy.

Anne Quinn Corr--Thank you, Anne, for your kindness and for sharing your delicious recipes with us.

Lisa Truesdale--Thank you for your positive attitude and understanding. Also, thank you for writing for even though your schedule is very demanding.

Tim Porter-- Thank you, Tim, for reaching out to local breweries and writing about the beer scene. I have learned so much about beer from your articles.

Suzanne McBride and Shelia Conroy-- Suzanne and Shelia are new to the Longmont Observer. In their short time with us, both ladies have jumped at any opportunity to help out that they can. Ladies, I appreciate the time you have devoted to us so far and I look forward to getting to know each of you better in the near future.

Each of these individuals is a priceless part of my team. Without them, the Longmont Observer would not be able to continue. So Longmont, I am asking you to help me. Help me keep this staff by granting my holiday wish.

I am asking you, Longmont, if you like local news, if you enjoy what the Longmont Observer does and/or if you would like to see us continue to improve, please consider donating, becoming a member or a business member. Every dollar you donate, no matter how small, will go a long way to keeping and improving our work at the Longmont Observer.

Thank you for considering to donate. We all appreciate everything you are willing to do to help our local news grow.

Have a great Thanksgiving,

Macie May
