Mother nature and the hard work of its staff made the launch of Eldora’s 60th anniversary arrive a week early.

“Thanks to the hard work of our employees, we’re opening a full week ahead of schedule for our 60th anniversary season,” says Brent Tregaskis, Eldora’s president and general manager. “We’re so proud to have served as the local community’s hub for winter adventure for the past six decades, and we can’t wait to welcome our guests back for another season.

The ski resort —  located 20 miles from Boulder — will open seven days earlier than expected.

Downhill skiing and snowboarding along the Hornblower-to-International top-to-bottom blue run will open at 9 a.m. Friday. A small terrain park will also be open but no beginner terrains are available as of Friday, a news release from the ski resort states.

In preparation for its 60th-anniversary celebration, the resort invested over $10 million in enhancements which includes parking expansions, an EV-charging lot, snowmaking upgrades, a new rental equipment fleet, a kitchen remodel, trail improvements and more.

A new policy set by Boulder County will change parking accommodations at the resort. The resort is now required to collect a $10 fee from single-occupancy vehicles on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays and any weekday with more than 10 inches of snow. Parking will remain free for vehicles arriving with two or more people and a special HOV lot is available on a first-come basis for vehicles with three or more occupants.
