Evacuations were ordered Sunday afternoon for the Sylvan Lake Fire, located 12 miles south of Eagle on the Western Slope. As of Monday, the fire had grown to 400 acres, according to InciWeb, a reporting service for the U.S. National Forest Service.

Evacuations were called for Sylvan Lake State Park, Yeoman Park, Lede Reservoir and Crooked Creek Pass as 60 firefighters, four single-engine air tankers and a light helicopter worked the blaze. The fire was reported about 3:15 p.m., according to the Denver Gazette.

The fire was estimated at 90 acres about 6 p.m. and had grown to 180 by nightfall, the Gazette reported.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, the Gazette said.

The fire comes as Eagle County was placed under a red flag warning from noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday due to high winds and dry conditions. During the red flag warning, stage two fire restrictions are in place, the Gazette said.
