Longmont’s Fourth of July fireworks show will once again be at the Fox Hill Golf Club this year.
It’s the second year that the show is taking place at the golf club. Skyline Longmont Kiwanis Club handles the fundraising and coordination for the city’s fireworks show, which was moved to Fox Hill in 2021 because of the unpredictable COVID restrictions last summer.
There was no Longmont fireworks show in 2020 and prior to that, the show took place at the Boulder County Fairgrounds.
The fireworks will be shot from the private golf course, but the Skyline Kiwanis organizers emphasized in a press release that the event is open to the public.
“While there was some confusion and miscommunication about the (2021) event, it was always open to the public,” the press release said. “To be clear the 2022 show is open to the public!”
Skyline Kiwanis said it will be working in cooperation with the city of Longmont to identify as many fireworks watch areas as possible.
“There will be limited parking available at Fox Hill, but the location of the course is one of the highest points in Longmont, geographically …”
Viewing locations recommended by Skyline Kiwanis include Sandstone Park, Steven Day Park, Centennial Park, several points along the St. Vrain Greenway and along Ninth Avenue. Due to safety constraints, no attendees will be allowed onto the golf course.
Skyline Kiwanis is attempting to raise enough money for the fireworks show to cover all costs with a goal of $50,000. Wyatt’s Wet Goods, the presenting sponsor for this year’s show, has donated over $21,000 for the fireworks show already, according to the press release.
This year’s show will feature a free performance by Hazel Miller. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. on July 4 at the Fox Hill driving range with the fireworks set to launch at dusk — approximately 9:30 p.m.
Admission to view the fireworks from Fox Hill’s driving range is free for walk-ins and parking passes at the golf course will be on sale soon.
“People are encouraged to park and walk or ride or scooter to see the biggest fireworks show the City of Longmont has ever seen,” the release said.
