Front Range Community College (FRCC) and Longmont's makerspace, TinkerMill, are creating a new kind of class to explore how social media works and can be applied to the real world.
The class is still open for enrollment through Monday, August 19th for anyone interested.

This Fall, Front Range Community College, Boulder County Campus is offering Marketing 155, Social Media for Business! For the first semester that FRCC offers this opportunity for students, this course will be taught by business faculty Jim Vernon and Chris McGilvray. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a service project with Tinkermill to develop a social media strategy. Students will learn to:
- Distinguish the role social media marketing plays in business, evaluate the importance of strategizing use and implementation of social media.
- Define a target market and apply appropriate social media for that market.
- Compare and use the top five most common social media platforms.
- Assess the legal and ethical ramifications of using social media as a marketing tool and defend the decision to use them.
- Appraise the importance of content marketing.
- Select different options and apply best practices for content development.
- Develop a personal social media branding and content strategy and implement that strategy across the five most common social media platforms.
