On Wednesday, Oct. 5, Boulder County Public Health (BCPH) will honor the 2022 recipients of the Healthy Community Awards. The annual awards acknowledge organizations and individuals that have improved the health and well-being of people in Boulder County. For example, the 2022 awardees have developed policies for emergency response, fair housing and the mental health of new parents, and have made fresh, local fruits and vegetables available to low-income families.
The winners of the 2022 Boulder County Healthy Community Awards are:

The community is invited to celebrate the work and achievements of the award recipients at the award ceremony.

ELPASO VOZ - Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition is being honored for their continued work in helping to build leadership in our communities to assist the whole community in creating social change. For this, and their recent work in advancing food security by making high-quality local produce more accessible and working with the St. Vrain Valley School District to improve the quality of their school food program.
Table of Hope Food Pantry is being recognized for providing daily home delivery of food and other personal items to some of our most disadvantaged community members during COVID-19. Their outstanding work to reduce food insecurity must be commended.
Parents Involved in Education (PIE) are being recognized for providing opportunities for youth leadership and development in our community. PIE’s organizational goals and initiatives have successfully equipped Latino parents with tools that support their children’s social, physical and emotional health.
Milk and Honey Farm at the Boulder Jewish Community Center is receiving an award for providing thousands of pounds of locally-grown fresh produce to childcare programs throughout Boulder County and providing opportunities for children to experience a “hands-on” gardening experience.
Shelly Fuller, BC Hazardous Materials Management Facility Program Manager is being recognized for her innovative work in addressing vape-related waste disposal in our community. The safe vape disposal program co-created by Shelly is the first of its kind in the nation and could not have been successful without Shelly’s dedication and creative thinking.
Becky Milansky, Colorado Peer and Family Specialist at the Recovery Cafe Longmont is being recognized for effectively bridging the gap between harm reduction and recovery services in Boulder County. Becky’s support and outstanding leadership within the Recovery Cafe Longmont have filled a much-needed connection between recovery and harm reduction.
Boulder County AIDS Project is being recognized for continuing to provide harm reduction services throughout the COVID epidemic. By providing services to the highest need people in our community - people who use drugs and who are unhoused, BCAP has improved the health and well-being of our most vulnerable community members.
St Benedict Health and Healing Ministry is being recognized for its exceptional dedication to providing free medical services and vaccines in Boulder, Longmont and Lafayette to our most vulnerable community members.
OUR Center Volunteers are being recognized for their service in assisting the OUR Center successfully pivot service delivery to meet communities’ needs during the challenges of COVID-19. OUR Center Volunteers have selflessly provided countless hours of service to assist OUR Center in their mission to provide critical services such as food, housing and utilities to help families achieve self-reliance.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is being recognized for supporting communities impacted by the Marshall Fire. NOAA provided outdoor air monitoring immediately after the fire throughout the burn areas. Measuring gaseous air pollutants caused by the fire was essential in ensuring residents in and around the burn areas were safe.
Home SOS Program at the University of Colorado is being recognized for its work in supporting our communities impacted by the Marshall Fire. The SOS Home Team provides clean up guidance and indoor air monitoring in fire-impacted homes to determine levels of pollutants, characterize risks and provide mitigation measures. Their work was essential in assisting residents in cleaning up and returning to damaged homes more safely.
Boulder County Assuring Better Child Health and Development (ABCD) Partnership is being recognized for its continued work in supporting children’s emotional and developmental health in our community. The ABCD partnership’s organizational goals and initiatives are making a positive difference in the lives of the children in our community.
COVID-19 Mass Testing and Mass Vaccination Partners are being recognized for providing COVID-19 community-wide testing and vaccinations to protect our residents. Their exemplary work in providing free access to COVID-19 testing and vaccines in all types of weather and conditions throughout the pandemic saved lives.
Since 2006, BCPH has recognized more than 40 individuals, groups, agencies and organizations that have worked to address public health needs and issues in Boulder County. Recipients of the Healthy Community Award demonstrate strategies that improve the health and well-being of the people and environment.
A BCPH employee must nominate community members or organizations for the award, and a review committee of public health leaders selects annual award recipients.
