June 29 marks return to normal for Longmont City Council

Council meetings will once again be held in person

Longmont City Council is expected to return to in-person meetings on June 29. Regular city council meetings have been held via remote since late March 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The June 29 meeting will also include an opportunity for members of the public to appear before the city council at 350 Kimbark St., to voice their opinions about city issues. Since last March, members of the public have called in via telephone to raise issues with the council.

Per Boulder County health orders no gathering restrictions apply to the meeting. Those in attendance who have been fully vaccinated may remove masks for the June 29 meeting, said Sandi Seader, assistant city manager, via email. Boulder County Public Health still recommends that unvaccinated people still be masked, however, that order currently expires on June 10, Seader said. "We are assuming at this point that any further orders will be less restrictive," she said.

The city council originally planned to be back in person June 15, however, Councilmember Tim Waters is not expected to be in attendance. The June 15 meeting was originally scheduled as the open forum. In light of his absence, Waters asked for the open forum to be moved to July 20. Agreeing, Longmont City Council canceled the June 15 meeting, with the exception of the already planned closed-door executive session, Seader said.

The June 22 meeting has also been canceled.

The council’s June 8 meeting will still be remote.
