Longmont Museum's virtual Discovery Days program for kids launches next week

Discovery Days, for children ages 2 to 6, has been adapted to take place virtually, allowing kids and caregivers to engage in hands-on activities at home, according to a Museum email.

The Longmont Museum next week will launch the next round of its Discovery Days early education program.

Discovery Days, for children ages 2 to 6, has been adapted to take place virtually, allowing kids and caregivers to engage in hands-on activities at home, according to a Museum email. The at-home activities are supported by activity kits and virtual crafting and storytime sessions, according to the email. 

Classes start next week and registration is now open. Classes will meet online from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

The cost of activity kits for January is $18 or $16 for museum members, and will include these activities, according to the city’s online event calendar:

  • Rainforest Animals — Jan. 20, 21 and 22. 
  • Cute Little Monsters — Jan. 27, 28 and 29.

Craft kits for February are $36 or $32 for Museum members and will include:

  • Gardens & Flowers — Feb. 3, 4 and 5
  • Valentine’s Day — Feb. 10, 11 and 12
  • Patterns & Colors — Feb. 17, 18 and 19
  • Children's Books — Feb. 24, 25 and 26

Scholarships also are available thanks to support from the Dodge Family Fund, according to the Discovery Days webpage.
