Free Annual Earth Day Celebration | Longmont Museum Presents

Celebrate Earth Day at a free community event at the Longmont Museum on April 23. This all-day event will feature more than 20 environmental education booths, hands-on activities for kids and special events for all ages, all of which will highlight sustainability and environmental issues.

The Longmont Museum will open at 10 a.m. for Earth Day. The events throughout the day will include a seedling station with the Kiva Center, a concert from Jeff & Paige, a visit from Longmont’s Mayor Joan Peck, an Environmental Film Fest, the chance for kids to feed and interact with baby goats and more. From 1:15 to 2 p.m., community members are invited to “Sustainable Policy and Local Actions You Can Take,” a talk where adults and kids will learn how to get involved in sustainability policy, with information from former State Senator Mike Foote, City Sustainability staff, and Colorado State Representative Tracey Bernett. Individuals are invited to make a sign and march for Mother Earth during a Climate Rally, which will leave the museum at 2 p.m. Interactive educational booths at the event will include booths from BoCo Pollinators/PPAN, City of Longmont, Drive Electric Colorado, Eco-Cycle, Environmental Protection Agency and more.

Do Momma Earth proud – and help the Longmont Museum with their limited parking space – by riding bikes, carpooling, or using Longmont's free bus lines while traveling to the museum on Saturday. To encourage more people to bike, walk and use public transit, the first 25 kids who bike to the Museum for Earth Day will receive a free bicycle bell. See Sustainable Resilient Longmont for more information about the event.
