Downtown Summer Concert: Crick Wonder, Unauthorized Absence, and  SVVSD High Schools Reunion

Longmont Downtown summer concerts return for its second week of normal programming in the 2022 summer season on June 10 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This week not only will there be performances from Crick Wooder and Unauthorized Absence, the sixth Annual High Schools Alumni Reunion will be held at the Downtown Summer concert series as well. 

The Downtown summer concert series is calling all grads from all schools in Longmont, Silver Creek, Skyline, Niwot, Mead, Erie, Fredrick, Lyons, St. Vrain Online Global Academy and Olde Columbine to celebrate their recent graduation at the concert series. 

Crick Wooder has his musical roots back to the 90s as he had a formal musical education in jazz, soul, and rock and roll. Due to his education, he has a unique and engaging approach to the Grateful Dead songbook and beyond. 

Unauthorized Absence is a classic rock cover band that plays music from the 60s all the way to the 2000s. For their shows they come equipped with a full light show that combines with the music, making their show not only an auditory experience, but a visual one as well. 

There is something for the entire family to enjoy. There will be kids activities, dancing in the street, great live music performances and samples of food and drink from local small businesses. Admission is free.

June 2 

Social Emotional Circle Time for 3 to 5-year-olds at City of Longmont Public Library

Every Thursday in June and July from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The event is geared towards kids aged 3 to 5-years-old and their caregivers. Identifying and controlling big emotions can be hard, especially for young children! Kid Connects In the Neighborhood, a program through Mental Health Partners, will be partnering with the Longmont Library to provide a space for children and caregivers to learn how to identify big emotions and discuss ways to manage those feelings. This will be a fun interactive time for us all to explore and express our feelings! No registration necessary and Spanish translation available. For more information click here.

First Thursdays Book Group at City of Longmont Public Library

June's First Thursday Book Group will discuss "The Woman They Could Not Silence: One Woman, Her Incredible Fight for Freedom, and the Men Who Tried to Make Her Disappear" by Kate Moore. The book group meets in-person starting at 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Library's Conference Room on the first Thursday of each month, unless that day falls on a holiday. $5 All You Can Play for Quarters Club Members at Quarters Bar and Arcade

Quarters Bar+Arcade, "$5 All You Can Play" Games for Quarters Club Members. Come in to Quarters from Open to Close (from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m)  for members all you can play. If you are not a Quarters Club Member, you can purchase a membership that day for $60/year.

Historic Third Avenue Walking Tour at Longmont Museum

Take a stroll along the stately homes of Third Avenue in Longmont with Curator of History Erik Mason. Hear stories of industrialists and bankers, plus tales of tragedy and murder, while seeing the homes built by some of Longmont’s wealthiest early citizens. Drop-In Teen Gaming Club at the City of Longmont Public Library  

Every Thursday in June and July from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. compete, cooperate, and collaborate on our Nintendo Switch featuring a selection of games for 4-8 players. This drop-in program will be held in our newly renovated teens-only space. All levels of gamers are welcome. The event will be  In-person in the Teen Space, no registration necessary! It is exclusive to 6th-12th graders.

June 3 

Morning Concert for Kids: Interactive beatboxing with Mr.Kneel at City of Longmont Public Library 

From 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. join us on our West Patio for an interactive kids' concert! This program focuses on building confidence and empowering kids while learning how to make silly noises into music. Concert best for 4 year olds and older; all ages are welcome. No registration necessary, just meet us outside on our patio! Some chairs and an awning will be set up, feel free to bring a blanket or something comfy to sit on. For more information click here

Paint Me a Story: Barnyard Hullabaloo 

Come visit Crackpots, from 10:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. for a  Paint Your Own Pottery Studio! For this event, our littlest Crackpots (Ages 2 to 6 years old) will read a story and paint a project to go with it. It’s a super fun activity to get their little creative gears going.

LEGO Club for Families at City of Longmont Public Library 

The Library has more than 10,000 LEGO pieces, and at LEGO Club, we get them all out and build! The club meets from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Each time the club meets, we have a different building challenge. We also make a 'shared build' together. Family event- adults and kids build together. Kids younger than 10 years old must be accompanied by someone older than 14 years old dedicated to their care. LEGO Club is an after-hours event so that everyone is very aware that there are small pieces of plastic all over the meeting room and Children's section. We put the finished creations on display in the Children's and Teen area. Downtown Summer Concert- Pato Banton and Mono Verde Collection

On Friday June 3 at 4th Avenue and Kimbark Street from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Downtown Longmont gives you the chance to dance in the street and enjoy great live music from local and regional artists this summer. Bring your family and neighbors downtown for the evening and sample some great local food and drink from downtown businesses. Admission is free! Pato Banton is a grammy nominated reggae legend that has recorded and toured the world with The English Beat, Steel Pulse, UB40 & STING! (just to name a few). Mono Verde Collective is a Latin reggae band, performing in Denver, CO, and across the front range. The band plays an eclectic blend of Spanish style rhythms and reggae music to create their own unique sound.

June 4 

Mayor’s Community Conversation 

On Saturday May 4 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Longmont Mayor Joan Peck and Mayor Pro Tem Aren Rodriguez are hosting a series of four meetups for Longmont residents to talk about specific topics that are important to the community. This series of community conversations will be held on Saturdays every quarter through the rest of 2022. The talk will occur at Fire Station #5 in the community room, 617, on Barberry Drive.  For more information contact the Longmont City Manager’s Office at 303-651-8601.

Cultural Caravan: Jayme Stone live in concert at Longmont Museum

Pride Kickoff at Left Hand Brewing 

From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. come to Left Hand Brewing to kickoff pride month with a drag show. Get ready to PARTY with our friends: Jessica L'Whor, Lulu Alnite, LaLa Queen and Colter Cordova. This year's Druicy Fruit is Blackberry and Lemon Peel BerlinerWeisse with hints of Juniper -- perfect for kicking off Pride month! Ace Engfer Brave and Free Album Release at Wibby Brewing 

From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. come to Wibby Brewing for Ace Engfer’s album release of “Brave and Free.” Doors will open at 5 p.m., and the show is free. The event consists of a An Open-Air Pavilion Performance and Album Release Show. Brave & Free’ is a deeply personal album centered around themes of Loss, Mortality and the Unknown–universal experiences that will resonate with audiences from all walks of life. Touching on musical genres that Ace has explored with past projects, ‘Brave & Free’ is a journey into American Music (Americana) that will captivate and intrigue the most discerning ear. “Tonight, I’m gonna sing songs that will make you cry. And harmonize melodies to dry your eyes.”

June 5 

LOCO Ukulele Jam with Brian Rezac! At Bootstrap Brewing  

Every Sunday from 2-4 p.m. Bootstrap Brewing hosts a Ukulele jam. Whether you want to learn how to play the Ukulele or already do and want to join the fun, wipe off your uke and join in- it's blast! Host Brian Rezac has extras you can borrow. Or, just come enjoy a beer and watch. All ages and levels are welcome.

Sunday Kiki Sessions at Out and Boulder Equality Center

In honor of Ballroom, Out Boulder County is hosting Kiki Sessions every 1st & 3rd Sundays of the month from 1 p.m to 4 p.m. at our Equality Center of the Rocky Mountains! It is FREE and open to all identities and ages. What is a Kiki Session? Kiki Sessions are spaces for people involved in Ballroom, or hoping to be involved, to come practice their skills depending on the categories they "walk" (or participate) in. These categories can range from Runway, to Face, Performance, etc. It is a communal space meant to build solidarity and get prepared for "walking" in future Balls. As a communal effort, the "elders," or more experienced members of the community, will take a position of leadership to assist the newer faces in developing their skills. Cultural Caravan: Joshua Halpbern in recital at Longmont Museum 

In this concert in the Longmont Museum’s Stewart Auditorium, Joshua Halpern is a cellist who blurs the boundaries between music and the world around him. He has performed in esteemed venues on five continents, from Carnegie Hall to the Berlin Philharmonie, but he’s most at home performing Bach in bars and even prisons. Whether you’re a seasoned fan of classical music, or you’ve never heard a cello in concert before, his recital will bring fresh perspective to the possibilities of the instrument. June 6 

Summer Art Camp with Miss B. and Tangle Turtle Art at Firehouse Art Center

From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. this week from June 6 to June 10, Tangle Turtle Art camp will be exploring General Art: painting, drawing, calligraphy, zentangle, fibers, collage/mixed media, and Origami. We will supply everything you need to dive into the foundations of drawing and painting, to explore calligraphy and zentangle, to sew a pocket pet, create friendship bracelets and a woven owl, to a collage with mixed media, and fold Origami. All Tangle Turtle Art camp weeks will have different projects and themes! There will be project skill levels for all age groups (5-15 yrs). Drop-In Bilingual Storytime at the City of Longmont Public Library 

On Monday from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. join us for stories and songs in Spanish and English for children of all ages! All aged children with a grown-up are welcome, but this storytime is best for 3 years and older. Meet us in the Library's Meeting Rooms, located by the West/Kimbark Street Entrance.

Ignition Dance Fitness- Zumba Class at Elks Lodge 

Join Liliana and Katie, licensed Zumba instructors, for a high energy dance fitness class in the Elks ballroom! Every Monday and Thursday at 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.  LiveStream is also available.

Open Mic with Denny Driscoll at Bootstrap Brewing 

Performers should come at 6 p.m. to sign up. Performers get a complimentary beer for their performance. Email [email protected] for specific questions. The event will conclude at 9 p.m. 

 

June 7 

Guided Hike in Rocky Mountain National Park hosted by Angles Sports Ski, Board and Fly Fishing Shop 

Join us on a hiking adventure in Rocky Mountain National Park. Learn about the flora, fauna, geography, and other great locations in the park and around CO. Be prepared to hike 2-4 miles and see receipt for what you need to pack. Price is per day and includes admission to Rocky Mountain National Park. Meet in Estes Park at 10 p.m. and is expected to end at 1 p.m. More details will be distributed on receipt once booked. The event will cost $120 for residents and $150 for non-residents. 

Summer Kids’ Film Series: Snow White (Disney, 1937, G) at Longmont Museum

From Disney classics to recent blockbusters, enjoy a Tuesday morning movie with your little ones in our Stewart Auditorium with popcorn this summer. Your ticket gets you $1 off the hands-on “Tipi to Tiny House” exhibit too! Buy tickets ahead; these movies sell out. The movie begins at 10 a.m. Tickets are $3 for movie only, $5 for popcorn and juice box to be included. Children ages one and under get in for free, tickets can be purchased here. Historic Downtown Walking Tour 

Learn how the agricultural boom, coming of the railroad, and other factors shaped the commercial and retail economy in downtown Longmont. Hear about the Dickens Opera House, J.C. Penney’s first store, and the longest continuous business in the City. Longmont Museum Curator of History Erik Mason will highlight Mid-Century Modernism, the National Register, the State Historic Fund, and the Downtown Creative District. Participants will meet at the Longmont Museum at 10 a.m and the tour will end at 11:30. Tickets are $12. Participants can register online for the event here. Or by calling 303-651-8374. Dungeons and Dragons for Teens at City of Longmont Public Library 

The event will occur on the first and third Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Library Teen Space on the first floor. Calling all D&D lovers! 6th to 12th graders who have some experience playing Dungeons & Dragons are invited to come and play friendly campaigns. The most experienced players will Dungeon Master and more experienced players will help along players without as much experience. This is a teen-powered program! Participants will have to work together cooperatively to create the playing experience. New players may join, but there is no specific instruction provided for beginners.Registration required, you can register here

Karaoke with Nic at Bootstrap Brewing! 

From 6-9 p.m. join Nic at Bootstrap Brewing for a fun-night of Karaoke! Imagine someone who loves music and karaoke just as much as you do, has an eclectic taste in music genres, likes to get the ENTIRE crowd involved...not just the people singing, likes to dance and LOVES to throw a party. Welcome to Nic's Mobile Music world!!

Open Chess Night at the City of Longmont Public Library 

Tuesdays are Open Chess Night at the Longmont Public Library! We will have some tables set aside on the 2nd floor for playing with chess sets available. However, you may bring your own set. The event will occur on the second floor of the library. It opens at 6 p.m. and goes until 7:30 p.m. when games need to be wrapped up in time for closing at 8 p.m. Open to all ages, but those 16 and younger must have an adult with them at all times. Evenings will be informal and there will be no instruction on how to play (we do have books on the subject)!

Speakeasy Open Mic 

The Speakeasy Open Mic Night in Longmont is the place to take the stage in Longmont. Sign-up starts at 7 p.m., the first performer starts at 8 p.m. Singers, instrumentalists, comedians, poets, hip-hop artists, and more! All are welcome! Come see the premiere acts in the area, from brand new artists to seasoned performers. The event occurs every Tuesday night. The event will conclude at 12 a.m. 

 

June 8 

Drop-In Baby Storytime at the City of  Longmont Public Library 

The reading starts at 10 a.m., get ready for an interactive storytime designed for infants to age 2 and their grownup! Enjoy 20 minutes of short stories, songs, rhymes, bouncing, and fun for children and adults. Baby Storytime is a great way to build language, social-emotional, and pre-literacy skills! Meet us in the Library's Meeting Rooms, located by the West/Kimbark Street Entrance.

Intro to Paddle Boarding Class

The class will meet at Flanders Park on the North Side of Lake McIntosh. The class will be taught by Dakota Serrette, Matt Burditt, and Nathan Otteman. This class is for the total beginner who has little or no experience with SUPing. We will cover: Hard boards vs Inflatables. The differences between a cheap SUP and a quality one. Differences with paddles. How to transport your SUP. How to enter the water. How to mount your board. How to stand up. Where to go and the Colorado safety regulations you must abide by. Basic safety and emergency skills. We will provide Paddleboards and PFDs, but if you have your own equipment it is recommended to bring your own. The class will cost $65 for residents or $81.25 for non-Residents.

Every Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Summit Tacos will be hosting a movie night. Tickets are $5 for adults, and kids under ten-years- old get in free! Back bar will be open slingin' drinks and popcorn. Restaurant is open until 9 p.m. Bring your own chair or blankets!

The event will begin at 12 p.m. and end at 1 p.m. It is exclusive to 6th through 12th graders, and will be in-person in the Teen Space. It will occur on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of June and July. The book club for people who want to read what they like. No matter what you're reading, come enjoy pizza with other teens, get recommendations, and talk about your latest literary obsession!

Creative Fix: Linotype Painting at Crackpots Pottery Studio 

From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Come learn how to paint pottery with us! During our Creative Fix class, you can discover tricks and tools to make your art fabulous. $15 class fee is required to reserve your spot. You can choose and purchase a ceramic item that you love on the day of class. ADULTS ONLY, please.
