Saturday Longmont Farmers Market

Every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Longmont locals can enjoy a farmers market at the Boulder County Fairgrounds at 9595 Nelson Road. The Boulder County Farmers Markets’ mission is to support, promote and expand local agriculture, making fresh products accessible to the community and strengthening relationships between local food producers and food consumers. 

On Saturday, June 26, Longmont Farmers Market-goers can expect live music by Anastasia Rose, merchandise booths from growers-only vendors including Rough and Ready Farm, Stubborn Roots Farm and Morton’s Organic Orchards, a full food court featuring Angie’s Probiotic Kitchen, Charlotte’s Lil’ Kitchen, Lenon’s wood-fire pizza truck, Pupusas Familia and more.

¿Aprendiendo inglés? ¡Hablemos! | Learning Spanish? Let's Talk!

Los jueves, de 12 a 1 pm, conozca a otros mientras practica el inglés o español virtualmente en Webex. La reunión es gratuita y abierta a todos quienes quieren practicar sus habilidades en otro idioma. Recomendamos que participantes usen inglés o español a un nivel intermedio para participar efectivamente, ¡pero todos son bienvenidos! Escogeremos temas y juegos cuales serán entretenidos e interesantes para todos. On Thursdays, from noon to 1 pm on Webex, get to know other language-learners while practicing conversations in Spanish or English. This virtual meet-up is free and open to anyone wanting to practice their language skills. It is recommended that participants have at least an intermediate level of Spanish to effectively participate. We’ll choose themes and games that will be entertaining and interesting to all of us. Registration is required: Register on Eventbrite, and you'll be sent instructions to join the meeting in your confirmation email.

Playing with Water and Color for Kids

On Thursday, June 24, from 2 to 3 p.m. let's have fun with water and color! In this virtual class, kids will be painting with watercolor and learning the basics of color theory, how to activate and mix colors, as well as learn fundamental watercolor techniques. No art experience is necessary. There will be an overview of the different shapes of brushes, how to hold a brush, and how watercolor paper works. Best for kids entering 3rd-5th grades (K-5 kids can register). A watercolor kit will be provided. Supplies needed from home are 2 cups for water, 1 pencil. Upon registration you will receive information about how to access the WebEx virtual meeting room and we will contact you to arrange the picking up of kits! Summer Concert Series

Summer concerts are back on Thursday nights at the Longmont Museum — and this time you can join in-person! Stretch out and enjoy some tunes for free, from up-and-coming local bands to established regional and national musicians in the Museum’s courtyard. There is limited seating and reservations are recommended. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome. Alcohol and concessions available for sale (only alcohol purchased on-site is allowed). If you can’t join in-person, you can tune in live via the website, Facebook LIVE, or local Comcast Cable Channel 8/880. Thanks to our presenting sponsor, the Longmont Cultural Events Fund (part of the Longmont Community Foundation), for making the Summer Concert Series possible. 

On Thursday, June 24, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.,Tiffany Christopher will play at the Longmont Museum at 400 Quail Road from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Pushing the boundaries of a traditional singer/songwriter, Tiffany Christopher is a multi-instrumentalist who engages her audience with physicality and musical virtuosity. Her genre ranges from folk-rock and alternative-americana to hip hop and rhythm and blues.

League of Women Voters of Boulder County Coffee Event

On Saturday, June 26, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., Join us for an informative and fun coffee! Open to all members and those interested in learning more about the league and becoming a member! Everyone welcome--current members, new members, prospective members. Join us to chat and we'll hear from Andrea Wilkins, LWVCO Legislative Liaison on the 2021 Legislative session. We'll also get an update from LWVBC delegates that attended the LWV Colorado Convention in May. 

Pop-up Library and Storytime in the Park

We've missed you and our in-person storytimes, so we are taking the Library to the park! Join us at Collyer Park, 600 Collyer St., from 11 am-noon on Saturday, June 26, for an outdoor all-ages Storytime and pop-up Library. Children's Librarians will lead a 30-minute storytime from 11-11:30 am with a focus on movement, songs and fun stories. Bring a blanket to sit on, and we encourage the use of face coverings and giving each other space as much as possible. A selection of staff-picks books for all ages (including adults) will be available for check-out, so bring your Library Card and get ready to browse! An Adult Services Librarian will be on-hand to help with Library resources and information, as well. No registration necessary.

4th Anniversary Hootenanny — Abbott & Wallace Distilling

On Saturday, June 26, from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m., Abbott & Wallace Distilling will be celebrating its 4 year anniversary. We’re bringing to you a hootenanny like we’ve done for the past three years! We will be hosting a bluegrass concert featuring Ragged Union and our returning Distillers Olympics where you could win some bottle related prizes. Distillers Olympics start at 3 p.m. (first come competitors take first priority) and the concert starts at 5:00 p.m.

Enduring Impressions Exhibit

On Sunday, June 27 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Longmont Museum, there will be an Enduring Impressions Exhibit. This unique exhibit features original paintings, charcoal illustrations, and prints by quintessential impressionists Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, and Camille Pissarro, generously on loan from the collection of Drs. Morton and Tobia Mower.

Summer Camp: Paper Mache Party 

From Monday, June 28 to Friday, July 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., children ages 5 to 7 can participate in Paper Mache Party Camp at the Longmont Museum. Let's make art! We will learn multiple types of printmaking techniques and many different ways to use paper to make 2D and 3D artworks. Your imagination is the limit as we make stamps, block prints, mono prints, paper mache, and paper sculptures.

Summer Camp: Charge it Up! Junior Engineers

From Monday, June 28 to Friday, July 2, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., children ages 9 to 11 can participate in Charge it Up! Junior Engineers Camp at the Longmont Museum. Learn about magnetism, light, and electricity and apply your knowledge to build light sabers, simple and parallel circuits, compasses, and more!

Summer Camp: Surviving Out West

From Monday, June 28 to Friday, July 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., children ages 11 to 14 can participate in Surviving Out West Camp at the Longmont Museum. Don’t just study history, live it! Learn the skills needed to survive the Western frontier including cooking over an open fire, harvesting and gathering food, building a fort, whittling, stalking and tracking, and flint knapping. Bring your rainboots and be prepared to get messy!

City Council Meeting

On Tuesday, June 29, from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m., there will be a Longmont City Council meeting. In order to protect residents, staff, and elected officials due to the novel COVID-19 virus, Longmont residents are urged to provide public comment from the comfort and safety of their homes by watching the meeting via live stream on the City of Longmont's YouTube page and calling in to provide public comment. Information will be displayed and announced during the live meeting directing the public on how and when to call in to the meeting.

All meetings of the Longmont City Council are open to the public except for Executive Sessions which are held only as needed to provide legal advice to Council on a specific topic as allowed under Colorado Open Meetings laws. Residents are invited to speak for three minutes at the beginning of every meeting during Public Invited to Be Heard regarding any topic. Residents are also invited to speak as part of published Public Hearings and Second Readings of ordinances. In order to speak to the City Council, you must sign up starting at 6:30 p.m. just outside of the Council Chambers. Share the Road in Longmont - Virtual Class

On Wednesday, June 30, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., there will be a Share the Road in Longmont virtual class. Cars and bikes and pedestrians, oh my! The Share the Road in Longmont class provides some of the hows and whys of sharing the roads with all users. Bicyclists riding two abreast - legal? or not? How/when to pass a person on a bike? Legal to cross the double yellow line? or not? People on bikes left of the white line - legal? Navigating safely through a traffic circle – on a bike, in a car or on foot. Get the answers to these questions as well as your own questions about how to share the roads safely together, whether your main mode is your car, your bicycle, or on foot. Celebration Sunday at the Heart of Longmont United Methodist Church

Our birthday celebration Sunday is being planned for July 11th. Although covid restriction have somewhat limited our planning, you don’t want to miss our celebration. We will hear a special message by our Bishop, the choir has planned a very special musical presentation, stories from the past & present will be presented. Following the morning service, please join us for a picnic. Bar-B-que sandwiches, cupcakes & drinks will be served. Please bring other picnic items to share with your family. If possible, plan to wear “period” costumes. Hats will be allowed. Mark your calendar for this special event.

Harvard Case Study Discussion: Women's Rights in America

On Monday, August 2, at 6:45 p.m. at Broomfield High School, DiMaio will be demonstrating how a diverse group of participants can share, discuss, debate and negotiate with each other the issues of their lives. The discussion will address “Women’s Rights in America” as covered in Harvard Professor David Moss’s book, Democracy: A Case Study and will take place at Broomfield High School starting at 6:45 pm. Participants will be asked to review case study materials to prepare for the discussion and to take an online survey.
