Jono Wright Artist Meet and Greet and Photo Project Tutorial at Firehouse Art Center

Firehouse Art Center’s summer artist in residence, Jono Wright, will be hosting a meet and greet and a photo project tutorial.

In this meet and greet, Wright will discuss his process and relationship to his artwork, while also allowing participants to become a part of his art collection at the Firehouse Art Center on Saturday June 11, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

For this event Wright is asking the question, “In the event of a fire or natural disaster, what would you bring with you if you had to flee your house?” This question challenges participants to think about what material objects mean the most to them. It is inspired by the global refugee crisis and the Marshall fire.

For this event participants are asked to bring one, two or even ten objects that hold a powerful personal meaning, and which you would like to see in a painting. The project will be collaborative in nature with participants taking photos of their objects, and Wright incorporating them into a series of oil paintings. Prints will be made available on Wright’s website, all of the proceeds will be donated to Marshall Fire relief.

The paintings will function as collective altars, and highlight “memento vivre,” remainders to live.
