This summer, The Zone presents a Youth Development program offering no-cost activities and enrichment for youth in grades 6-12. With health and safety being a top priority, the Zone is planning to offer four summer programs this year. Groups will be small, registration will be required, and staff and youth will follow the guidance of public health agencies. Contact [email protected] or [email protected] for more information or to register. The four summer programs are:
Finding Meaning
Tuesdays (in-person) and Wednesdays (via Zoom) from June 8-July 1
Finding Meaning is a group for youth grades 6-12 who have recently experienced the death of a loved one, whether a friend or family member. Participants will be welcomed into a therapist-supported group to process their loss alongside their peers through journaling, photography, meditation, & music.
Entering Adulthood
Wednesdays (via Zoom) from June 2 - July 30 & July 14-August 11
Entering Adulthood asks high school youth transitioning into adulthood what is more important to them. Led by youth voices, these groups offer teens experiencing housing insecurity to ask big questions about the transition to independent, adult life. Youth will get to learn about employment skills, post-secondary education options, financial management, and much more.
Camp Giveback
Thursdays (in-person) from June 3-July 1
For teens entering 7-12th grade. Way more than just community service, youth will get to help with our grocery distributions, making activity kits for young children, and will learn about the importance of building community. We'll work hard and play hard!
Jobs That Rule
2nd and 4th Fridays in June & July
Jobs That Rule will give youth the opportunity to meet and learn about people who have really interesting professions - firefighters, pilots, doctors, chefs, and more! In-person sessions will have limited capacity, and will be recorded so they are available to all.
