In the morning on July 21, Longmont’s Public Information Officer Rogelio Mares said that a truck had struck a power line on Grand Avenue, between Bowen and Sherman. As a result, Mares said that customers in this area, south of Ken Pratt Boulevard, are experiencing a power outage that is projected to last until 2 p.m. or 3 p.m. on Monday afternoon.

Grand Avenue was closed between South Bowen and South Lincoln on Monday afternoon after the crash, and the area remains closed as of early Monday afternoon. Mares advised that drivers find an alternative route.

Although power is expected to return on Monday afternoon, Mares said that the timing is an estimate and that the amount of time it could take to restore power may change.

Updates on the situation can be found on Longmont Public Safety’s Facebook page.
