Longmont High School junior Henry Matheson has advanced to the Class 4A boys tennis semifinals at 9 a.m. Saturday. He will face Niwot High's fellow top seed, senior Neil Wilcox, for a trip to the finals later on Saturday.
Wilcox will have an advantage. After both he and Matheson swept their opening round foes 6-0, 6-0, Wilcox's second round opponent forfeited with an injury. Meanwhile, Matheson had to hold off Colin Boublik of Kent Denver with a 7-6 tiebreaking win in set two of his second match of the day.
Each of the six other Trojans who made the trip to Pueblo were eliminated on Day One. Senior Danny O'Brien lost his second round matchup 6-4, 6-1 as did the doubles duo of Abenezer Keefer and Jimmy McConahy.
