Thousands of cities, towns, and communities from all 50 states will participate in National Night Out on August 5, an event that allows for community members to meet and interact with public safety staff and police officers under positive circumstances. The City of Longmont will host its National Night Out event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Garden Acres Park.
The city said that the event is all about “celebrating the value of community partnerships and getting to know your neighbors, as well as Longmont's public safety services.”
“National Night Out is a great opportunity for our community to come together and build lasting connections that will make a difference in Longmont,” said Interim Longmont Police Chief David Moore. “It’s also a unique opportunity to meet our public safety team and learn about community services in a fun and friendly environment.”
The event is a “touch-a-truck event,” which means that attendees of all ages can see and explore police, fire, and other community service vehicles up close. The city recommends that attendees bring lawn chairs to the park.
Free hot dogs, chips, and drinks will be available until supplies run out. At the event, kids can complete a punch card to earn a “special gift,” the city said.
Other National Night Out events will occur across Colorado on August 5, including events in Thornton, Lakewood, Arvada, Erie, Northglenn, Parker, and more.
