With Spring Break for local schools just around the corner, staff at the Longmont Public Library are gearing up for a week of programming to keep children and teens from uttering those dreaded words, "I'm bored." In addition to regular storytimes each day, kids will have all new options to come to the Library to learn and play.

The Library kicks off the fun with a special Family Storytime on Friday, March 20 from 11 to 11:30 am. This "Sustainability Storytime" is the first in a mini-series that will focus on ways that we can all be better stewards of our plant and will continue through the Fall. Each session will have a different theme, and the first session will be about ways to save energy. This storytime is for all ages and does not require registration. Additional Sustainability Storytime sessions are scheduled for April, August, and October.

The following Monday, March 23, from 2 to 4 pm, children can exercise their crafting skills at the program "Spring Break Crafting in the Reading Garden." This drop-in craft will have a nature theme to celebrate Spring and the opening of the Children's Reading Garden for the season. The craft will take 10 to 20 minutes to complete and will be set-up in the Reading Garden, weather permitting. No registration is required, and this program is open to all ages but is designed for those age 9 and younger.

On Tuesday, March 24, young gamers are invited to spend the afternoon playing with the Library's new Nintendo Switch game consoles. "Switch Gaming Afternoon" will include two sessions for different age groups. Session 1, from 1 to 3 pm, is open to children in 3rd through 5th grade, and Session 2, from 3 to 5 pm, is open to those in grades 6th through 12th. Again, no registration is required for this drop-in program.

Finally, the Library is dedicating the afternoon of Thursday, March 26 to Elsa, Anna, and their friends with "Frozen 2: An Interactive Movie Event" from 2 to 4 pm. This will be a full sensory screening of the record-shattering Disney movie. Each participant will be given a goodie bag with "Frozen"-related items to use during the movie. All ages are invited to come and sing their hearts out while enjoying this snowy show. Registration is required for this program and can be accomplished on the Library's website at http://bit.ly/LibKids. Those without internet access or an email account may call 303-651-8472 to register.

Don't let bored kids drive you crazy this Spring Break - head to the Library instead!
