School’s out and the fun has just begun at the Longmont Library! Visit the Children’s and Teen’s area and enjoy a wide variety of fun activities and great reads to get the most out of your Winter Break vacation. See below for our top 10 things to do:

  1. Cozy up with cookies, cocoa, and books: Start your Winter Break off with your Longmont Librarians and learn about our favorite books of 2022, eat cookies, and cozy up with cocoa. Our 2022 favorites will be available for check-out to get you started on your Winter Break reads and Wintertime BINGO boards!
  2. Play Wintertime BINGO: Starting on Friday, Dec. 23, kids and teens of all ages (birth-18 years old) can pick up their BINGO boards from the Children’s and Teens’ desk. Then, read your way through the spaces to get a BINGO and receive a fun prize! See full details at bit.ly/LibKids.
  3. Attend Storytimes with the littles: Stop by the Library Meeting Rooms starting at 10 am on Wednesdays (Baby Storytime) or on Fridays (Family Storytime) to read books, sing songs, and have fun!
  4. Game on our Nintendo Switch: Head to Teen Gaming Club on Wednesday afternoon (12/18) from 4-5:30 pm to play with others on the Nintendo Switch; or for younger kids, swing by the Library from 2-4 pm on Friday, Jan. 6.
  5. Get in the spirit!: Come to the Longmont Library dressed in cozy gear during Dec. 27-30 and pick up craft kits!
    • Tuesday, Dec. 27: Polar Express Day (wear your PJs or robe)
    • Wednesday, Dec. 28: Flannel Day
    • Thursday, Dec. 29: Winter Accessories Day (cozy socks, mittens, scarves or hats)
    • Friday, Dec. 30: Cozy Sweater Day
  6. Create and learn: There are many opportunities for kids and teens to make fun (and tasty!) creations during Winter Break. Click the links below to register for:
  7. Build, build, build!: Join other LEGO creators during the Library’s January session of LEGO Club from 6-8pm on Friday, Jan. 6. Registration is required per family and limited to 50 families.
  8. Snuggle up with a pup: From 2-3 pm on Sunday, Jan. 8, young readers can read to therapy dogs in a calm environment to help improve their literacy skills. Read more about the dogs >
  9. Cruise around: From taking a “drive” in the low rider to watching the model train go through the mountains to playing games on a Playaway, there are so many activities in the Children’s & Teens’ area to learn, explore and play!
  10. Read!: There’s nothing better than finding your next favorite book. The Longmont Librarians will be here all Winter Break to help you and your kids find the perfect book for them!
