The St. Vrain Valley School District unveiled its proposed budget to the community during Wednesday night’s school board meeting. With the adoption of the 2021-2022 budget expected to take place on June 23, the district is asking for community feedback.

The board was introduced to the budget during the May 19 study session where they learned there are more unknowns going into the next fiscal year than in prior years. Tony Whiteley, executive director of budget and finance for SVVSD told the board, last week, the unknowns are due to upcoming legislation and should be decided in the coming months. Those changes, however, could go into effect after the budget is adopted.

“Due to the pandemic, this budget contains a few more estimates than it would normally,” Whiteley said. “While we expect increases in our total formula for funding, we do not have final numbers at this point.”

Whiteley said the budget is now in the public comment period. On June 9, community members will be able to participate in a public hearing for the budget.
