Beginning on February 20, the northbound lanes of Coffman Street will be closed between 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenue, in Longmont. The closure will allow for utility and concrete work to be completed in that block over the next three months, according to the City of Longmont.
The closures and construction are part of the second phase of the City of Longmont’s Coffman Street Mobility Improvements project, which extends from 1st Avenue to 9th Avenue and will make the street “a world-class and truly multi-modal corridor.” The project aims to make Coffman Street better for pedestrians, cyclists, and public transportation.
The 3rd and 4th Avenue closures will extend the closure of the northbound lanes on Coffman Street from 3rd Avenue to 9th Avenue, according to the City of Longmont. Southbound lanes will remain open. Parking on the east side of Coffman Street will be closed on the blocks that are under construction.
The city said that the intersection at Coffman Street and 5th Avenue is currently under construction and that the east side of the intersection will remain closed for two more weeks. When the work is completed, the intersection will reopen and construction will start at the intersection of Coffman Street and 4th Avenue. Then, the east side of the 4th Avenue intersection will close for three weeks.
Construction related to the Coffman Street Mobility Improvements project began in June 2024. Construction is expected to be completed in the summer of 2026, according to the City of Longmont.
