Hi Lefties! It’s time to bundle up and spread some holiday cheer! We will open the Beer Garden on Saturday, 12/10, for a Holiday Garden Party from 12-4pm.

Local craft artisans will sell their unique, one-of-a-kind gifts, so come and get your christmas shopping done! Santa Claus will be in the house for the kiddos, and the RoxBox will be open for canned beer, canned cocktails and soda. 'Tis the season to be merry!

See all of the twinkling floats as they make their way down Coffman Street and Main Street! Don't miss Santa as he waves to all a good night. The parade begins at 5pm starting at Longs Peak Ave & Coffman Street.

Make sure to come down early (or plan to stay after!) to check off some holiday shopping, grab some food and drink, and check out the fun things happening downtown. Participate in the Main St. Fun Run/Walk at 4:30 before the parade!

Dogs Enjoy Afternoon Reading (D.E.A.R.) is probably the cutest program at the Library! This free program is designed for new readers and kids who want to practice their reading with a non-judgmental, furry audience a.k.a. a trained therapy dog.

Each child reads at their own pace to one or more of our friendly dogs. Parents, guardians and siblings are welcome to read to or help newer readers.

No registration is necessary, but please check-in with the staff member at the event to get on the list to read, sometimes there is a little wait. We will have a selection of books on hand to read or you can bring your own!

A Mental Health Partners Kid Connects in the Neighborhood class

About the Class

Join the Kid Connects in the Neighborhood team of Early Childhood mental health professionals for a course for ALL caregivers-parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles, and neighbors who care for children 0-5. We all know that caring for young children can be stressful, especially during these trying times. In this presentation, we will use brain science to understand the importance of self-care as it relates to co-regulation. We will also give participants an opportunity to learn more self-care strategies. These strategies will support positive self-care practices as well as in the moment strategies to manage intense moments.

This is a free course for ALL caregivers: parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles and neighbors who care for children birth- 5 years old.

Cheesemaking 101 & Cider Pairing

Join us for a holiday spin on this popular educational and tasty happy hour at Longmont’s St. Vrain Cidery! You’ll get to enjoy some delicious cheese and hard-cider pairings while watching homemade cheese being made by Certified Cheese Professional Kelly Liebrock of The Art of Cheese. During this interactive demonstration class, you’ll learn the basic art and science behind the cheesemaking process, the equipment and key ingredients needed, and how to source the best milk for making cheese at home.

As a THANK YOU for enduring COVID restrictions, Longmont Recreation is teaming up to offer a special city-wide pass valid Dec. 23 through Jan. 8, 2023. The Library has more than 10,000 LEGO pieces, and at LEGO Club, we get them all out and build! Each time the club meets, we have a different building challenge. We also make a 'shared build' together. Family event- adults and kids build together. Kids younger than 10 years old must be accompanied by someone older than 14 years old dedicated to their care.

Come and color your world with local author Lulu Buck and enjoy a reading of the children's book "Sue's Sky"!

Sue's Sky is a book about acceptance using the gentle metaphor of the sky to encourage kids to accept others' perspectives of the world around them. Parents will receive a resource to support their child in safe spaces, being aware of our bias and anti-bullying.

Kids will get to paint their sky with the author. This will be a fun, hands-on art experience around our identities and based on the book "Sue's Sky".
