Around 4:30 a.m. the Allenspark Fire District requested a pre-evacutation notice be sent to residents via emergency telephone message.

The message read:

This is the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Notification System. At 04:32:50 on 10-24-2020 a Pre-Evacuation has been issued for the area(s) of Wild Basin to the Larimer County Line due to fire activity near Estes Park. Take the following protective actions: Prepare in case of evacuation. This Pre-Evacuation stands Until Further Notice. If you need assistance or might need extra time, begin your evacuation now. If you choose to evacuate now, you may go to the Nederland Community Center at 750 Highway 72 in Nederland. Please take the route of Highway 7 to Peak to Peak Highway (Highway 72) south to Nederland.

As of 9:42 p.m. Friday, the CalWood Fire was contained to 66% and the Lefthand Fire remained at 100% containment.

Boulder OEM provided a growth map that shows the fires' growth by day and where firelines are roughly located.

Boulder County cautions victims returning to their homes to be cautious of containaminated water or damaged septic systems. The website states that those returning to their homes should be prepared with plenty of bottled water until they access their wells for contamination. Residents are encouraged not to use well water for cooking, brushing teeth or drinking.

Septic systems should also be checked for melted pipes and signs of traffic and/or scorched grass in the area of the system. If these conditions are found, Boulder County encourages owners to have the system checked by a licensed professional prior to use.

Noon update:

A Red Flag Warning is in effect today into Sunday due to increasing winds through the afternoon. Boulder OEM reports that crews are working to increase containment before the winds pick up with the hope of preventing spread down the South St. Vrain Canyon.

The Nederland Evacuation Center is open for those evacuating today. The center is located at 750 CO Hwy 72.
