UPDATES:

Longmont Communications and Power, or LPC, electric crews are responding to calls of power outages coming in from all over town, said LPC spokesman Scott Rochat said today via email.  Calls are starting to slow down a bit, but LPC crews are still on the job, Rochat said. This does not include calls where power was on and the caller was reporting a branch on the line.

As of 5:50 p.m. LPC has received 190 outage calles from around Longmont. This is about 30 more since the 3 p.m. update, Rochat said.  The most common locations for outage calls have been the following:

  • 300 block of Collyer Street (14 calls)
  • 800 block of Martin Street (10 calls)
  • 10 block of Ninth Avenue (nine calls)
  • 1200 block of Bross Street (seven calls)
  • 400 block of Atwood Street (seven calls)
  • 700 block of Martin Street (six calls)
  • 800 block of Sumner Street (six calls)
  • 200 block of Francis Street (five calls)
  • 300 block of Atwood (five calls)
  • 400 block of Terry Street (five calls)
  • 700 block of Sunset Street (five calls)
  • 1700 block of Centennial Drive (five calls)
  • 200 block of Judson Street (four calls)
  • 700 block of Atwood Street (four calls)
  • 700 block of Collyer Street (four calls)
  • 1200 block of Gay Street (four calls)
  • 100 block of Francis Street (three calls)
  • 100 block of Lincoln Street (three calls)
  • 100 block of E. Fifth Avenue (three calls)
  • 300 block of Bross Street (three calls)
  • 300 block of Pratt Street (three calls)
  • 400 block of Collyer Street (three calls)
  • 1400 block of Third Avenue (three calls)

LPC reports that these calls have been made by individuals and no feeder outages - outages that affect hundreds of customers at a time - have been reported.

"We have also received some calls from customers who say their power in on but flickering," Rochat said. "This not uncommon in major storms like this, and can sometimes be the result of weather effects on transmission lines that are well outside the city."

LPC also says on its Facebook post that some of the outages crews are seeing are very brief with the system correcting a given issue. "If you experience an outage and you can safely wait one to two minutes to call, please do...it literally may fix itself. If the lights don't come back in that time, and it's not safe to wait, then definitely call us so we can fix the problem."

This will be the last update for the day unless there is a large outage that needs to be reported, Rochat said. In that instance, the update will be posted to Facebook (as additional information on LPC's original post).
