Presented by Mayor Brian J. Bagley, the Longmont City Council is declaring a proclamation designating April 28th as "Gears Day."
Gears is a non-profit organization that provides a platform for individuals to positively impact their community and themselves through volunteer, social involvement, and their personal development. Gears has served in Downtown Longmont and the Boulder County Community since 2011.
Gears assists in various cleanup and community events, such as Clean & Green, Festival on Main, Downtown Block Party, ArtWalk and Summer Concert Series. Altogether, these events are helping to keep the community safe, clean, and a vibrant destination for all Longmont residents and visitors.
"Gears’ young professionals lead by example, making Downtown Longmont an
engaging and vibrant place to be. Their tireless and positive support is a true
example of volunteerism at its best," is stated in the proclamation by the Longmont City Council.
Andrew Johnson, Founder and Colin Argys, Founder, attended the Council meeting to accept this proclamation.
"Thank you Mayor Bagley and Council for this awesome honor. We are very very happy to be a part of the Longmont community. It's something special here and to be a small part of it is very important to us. It's a very big honor for us. We are a very young organization and this goes a long way to recognize the impact we've made. It feels good to be appreciated," stated Johnson.
