Union Reservoir will once again host a variety of youth water sports this summer under two separate proposals headed for a city council vote Tuesday night.
AVID4 Adventure Inc. wants to hold its annual youth kayaking camps at Union, a five-year tradition. A new permit would allow AVID to expand their camps to include stand-up paddle boarding and canoeing, a city staff report states.
The non-exclusive agreement is set for a two-year term to Dec. 21, 2022. AVID will pay an annual fee of $80 per daily visit of groups up to 13 campers, plus necessary staff, Monday through Friday, from June through August, according to the staff report.
City council is also being asked to approve a permit and agreement with ABLE to Sail for youth sailing camps at Union and to store boats at Union Reservoir. ABLE to Sail has been hosting camps at Union for 15 years, a city staff report states.
ABLE to Sail will hold sailing camps, clinics, and classes under the permit and will also be allowed to use the reservoir’s blue picnic shelter and to store watercrafts and trailers. The non-exclusive agreement is for one year, the staff report states.
ABLE to Sail will pay an annual fee of $703 for boat and trailer storage in public boat storage spaces, a license fee of $3,000 to operate sailing camps, clinics and classes and $840 to use fee for the blue picnic shelter for 10 days, the staff report states.
Sailing operations will take place Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., through Oct. 31.
