State championship dreams live on for Longmont and Mead boys basketball.

Both teams won their Class 4A Great 8 games on Tuesday, advancing to the semifinal round on Thursday.

No. 2 seed Longmont (14-2, 10-2) defeated No. 7 Pueblo Central (14-3, 5-3) 58-44 in the Tuesday home game, which was pushed from Monday because of the weekend snowstorm that dropped 18 inches on Longmont and 2 feet or more across the state.

Next up, the Trojans host No. 3 Montrose (17-0, 6-0) at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Mead (13-3, 9-2) punched its ticket to the semis Tuesday with a 61-50 win over No. 4 Lewis-Palmer (12-3, 8-1).

The No. 5 Mavericks will host No. 9 Pueblo South (15-2, 6-1) at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Wins for both will have them facing off in the championship game at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
