NEWS RELEASE
BICYCLE LONGMONT
*************************
Bicycle Longmont is pleased to announce the return of an annual bicycle cruiser festival under a new name and with a new title sponsor.  Its G’Knight Ride, a summer festival of all things cycling, featuring cruiser bike rides around Longmont, ran from 2011 – 2018, attracting 1,000+ riders every year.  Bicycle Longmont has partnered with Wibby Brewing in Longmont to host the Lightshine Radler Ride at their brewery headquarters.

This year’s event is planned for Saturday, September 18, 2021 and will include a bicycle expo, cruiser bike rides, games and activities, bands, food trucks, craft beer garden and more.  The event is expected to draw 1,000 participants.  Net event proceeds go to fund Bicycle Longmont programs.

“We are really excited to have Wibby [Brewing] coming on board,” said event organizer and Bicycle Longmont Board member Scott Conlin, “We were sitting at their taproom last year, looked around and said that this location would be perfect.  Their response was WAY more than we could have imagined.  We found an awesome partner that can really help us take the event up to the next level.”

Robin Wibby: “This event was a natural fit for us. It’s fun, creative, whimsical and inclusive. You don’t have to ride competitively, you get to enjoy and explore up to three loops whether you ride alone or with family and friends, it’s perfect!”

The Lightshine Radler Ride is named after Wibby Brewing’s Lightshine Radler– Radler translates to bike-rider and cyclist in German! It is also a traditional style of lager known for its unique blend with lemonade and low alcohol. The event will feature Wibby Brewing’s signature lineup of Seasonal Radlers, which includes their Grand Gold* winning Helles blended with house-made fruited lemonades: Raspberry, Strawberry, Pineapple, Grapefruit and Mango (while supplies last!). *2018 Frankfurt International Trophy – Best in Show

The Lightshine Radler Ride features 3 bicycle cruiser ride options (not races).  Rides are 2 miles, 5 miles, and about 13 miles long, all designed with stops for riders to have fun.  Much like the Bolder Boulder, neighbors of the Ride often come out to greet cyclists with everything from cowbells to sprinklers.  There is even a costume contest this year, supported by longtime Ride sponsor, Nite Ize.  Routes start and finish at Wibby Brewing, and will follow much of Longmont’s St Vrain and Lefthand Greenways, with some riding through neighborhoods.

The event features activities from Pedalpalooza; a handbuilt bike area, a bicycle decorating station, DIZZY Family Fun Center slides, Adult big wheel racing, and a SLOWEST race competition.  The Colorado Bike Polo Club plans to put on a demonstration match before the Ride roll-out.

This event will also be open to the public for the post Ride concert (7PM+) with 1970s big hair cover band, Boogie Machine from Denver playing, as well as an 80s high energy cover band, Ronnie Raygun and the Big Eighties.  Simply Pizza, FancyAF Concepts, traditional plate-sized German Pretzels and a wide variety of beverage options will be available for purchase at the event from 2PM – 10PM.

Ride tickets before the event are $27 for adults and as low as $5 for kids, and are available here:  www.RadlerRide.org

About the Lightshine Radler Ride

With a simple formula of Bicycles, Bands, and Beer, the event became an annual staple for rides up and down the Front Range of Colorado and beyond.  The event is a fundraiser for Bicycle Longmont, the area non-profit bicycle advocacy organization that uses proceeds from the event to get more kids onto bikes and to help get more bike repair stations installed around the region.  After taking 2019 off and an 18 month hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bicycle Longmont has heard from many local cyclists that they missed the Ride and that they can’t wait for it to return.

Rides will start at 4PM and end by 7:30PM. Riders are supported by volunteer marshals, again from the Longmont Scouts BSA Troop 64, in addition to Longmont Public Safety police officers.  The Ride is a Rules of the Road event, meaning that it is NOT a closed course, and that regular traffic rules do apply.  Riders of all ages can cruise through the St Vrain & Lefthand Creek Greenways, and nearby Longmont neighborhoods.  While out cycling, riders can stop at stations supported by Shoes n Brews, Play It Again Sports, High Country Bank, and more.

About Wibby Brewing

Wibby Brewing is a hard-working, innovative, medal-winning lagerhaus, crafting tasteful, modern lagers in Longmont, Colo since 2015. Their style is authentic. Recipes are brewed with the finest German malts, American hops, and Rocky Mountain water using traditional German Brewing techniques and precision. Brewing uniquely lagers is rare. One must be patient for they take longer and are often more technical. Cold fermentation and enhanced conditioning in horizontal tanks allow for results to be bright and full-flavored with a crisp finish.

A light-saturated taproom and brewery accompanied by expansive outdoor spaces with gardens fuels Wibby Brewing to organize many award-winning festivals and nationally touring acts. The brewery campus is situated on the former truck maintenance facility of the historic Butterball Turkey plant but their persistent renovation of the industrial buildings has brought a new vibrancy to a part of town, formerly abandoned. Wibby Brewing has become a significant community partner hosting events and raise funds for local charities throughout Boulder County all the while converting many ale drinkers to the Wibby modern lager revolution!  https://www.wibbybrewing.com/.
