Ziggi’s Coffee (www.ZiggisCoffee.com) has signed a franchise agreement with a retiring Army Veteran, Michael Harris, as he begins his second career and seeks to create a successful business with his wife in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Harris has completed five deployments, earned three bronze stars and is now retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel after 23 years of service in the United States Army.
Through assistance from programs dedicated to help prepare retirees for life outside the military, Michael discovered business ownership and franchising. Together with his wife, Tammy, also an Army Veteran, they researched a number of different options until they came upon one that they both loved.
“We worked with a franchise consultant who introduced us to various companies, but there was one that really stood out to us; Ziggi’s Coffee. The more we learned about the culture and value system, the more we were drawn to it,” said Michael. “Some of the other companies we looked at felt like they were trying to sell us something we didn’t want. That’s not how Ziggi’s was. It was more of a mutual investigation to make sure they were right for us, just as much as we were right for them.”
Ziggi’s Coffee shows its support for the men and women who have served through its substantial military discount off the franchise fee. With this, Michael and Tammy felt confident in their decision. They quickly moved forward in the process and got to know the support team, as well as the founders, and learned more about the company’s products and community involvement.
The couple was also highly impressed with the company’s exclusive coffee roaster, Coda Coffee, which has provided Ziggi’s with all of the premium roasted beans for their coffee beverages on the menu for nearly 17 years.
But coffee isn’t all that Ziggi’s Coffee offers. It has crafted a wide range of options for every taste bud, including its popular Red Bull Infusions and its KidZone menu; something Michael and Tammy were very attracted to.
“I loved visiting the roaster and meeting the people behind Coda Coffee. They were all so personable and the coffee was amazing! We also loved that Ziggi’s has so many options and offers more than just your standard Caramel Macchiato, because everyone has that,” said Tammy. “Ziggi’s has that but it also has more unique drinks like the Raspberry Truffle or the Campfire Cocoa.”
Michael added, “We also really liked the KidZone menu. I had never seen that before! A lot of places have kid’s hot chocolate but not a whole drink menu dedicated specifically to kids. To me, that was like, ‘Wow, that’s genius.’”
Checking all their boxes, Michael and Tammy say they are also very interested in being able to provide opportunities to give back to their community.
“As I transition into civilian life and become a business owner with Ziggi’s Coffee, I’m really looking forward to giving back to our community and being able to help organizations we care about,” said Michael.
