The Longmont Chorale announces that after the last concert of the current season, Scott Hamlin will step down as the artistic director of the organization.

Hamlin has been a pivotal figure in the local arts scene since becoming the Chorale’s artistic director in 2007, leading the Chorale through numerous performances, concerts, and special appearances.

Under his leadership, the Longmont Chorale has become a premier performing arts organization in the region, known for its dynamic and diverse repertoire and impactful performances.

Under Hamlin's leadership, the Longmont Chorale has grown in both size and reputation, garnering numerous accolades along the way. He has led the Chorale in performing a wide range of music, from traditional choral works to modern and contemporary pieces.

Hamlin collaborated with other arts organizations and artists in the community, such as the Longmont Symphony Orchestra, the Denver and District Pipe Band, and many more, to create unique and exciting performances. Hamlin also led the Chorale on its first international tour.

“I am overwhelmed with gratitude for your positive and encouraging support for both me and the entire organization. The many meaningful experiences we have all enjoyed together in both rehearsals and concerts cannot be measured. As I look to the next phase of my life, the time has come to retire from my leadership role with the Chorale. It’s time for new leadership to take the reins and continue to build the Chorale as we head towards our 90th year in 2027,” Hamlin said in his announcement to the Chorale members.

“We will conclude our performance year on Sunday, May 7, with one of the Chorale’s and my favorite genres - Celtic music! Our concert title, ‘Deep Peace…to You - A Celtic Journey of Wonder and Joy’, captures so much of how I feel about the Longmont Chorale. You have all brought me and each other so much ‘deep peace’ with our journey over the last 19 years filled with ‘wonder and joy’,” he continued.

The Longmont Chorale board of directors expresses their gratitude for Hamlin's outstanding service to the Longmont Chorale and his contribution to the choral music community in the Longmont area and beyond.

The board is now preparing to soon announce a new artistic director to build on Hamlin's legacy and continue the Chorale's mission. The board expects the transition to be smooth and is looking forward to the Chorale's continued success under new leadership.

The final concert of the current season will be held on May 7 and will be a capstone of Hamlin's many contributions to the Longmont Chorale.
