NEWS RELEASE
BOULDER COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH
*************************
Due to the limited vaccine supply during the current Phase 1, Boulder County Public Health is inviting outpatient health care workers providing direct patient care to complete a COVID-19 Outpatient Healthcare Worker Vaccination Notification survey to connect health care providers to vaccination clinics, as appropriate and as additional vaccines become available.
“First responders, including firefighters, emergency services, and law enforcement officers are also part of Phase 1 since they are on the frontlines every day protecting us,” said Indira Gujral, Boulder County Public Health Communicable Disease and Emergency Management Division manager. “We are partnering with the Boulder County and Longmont offices of emergency management to coordinate vaccine clinics for these groups.”
When additional vaccine doses become available during Phases 2 and 3 in the spring and summer, local health care providers will be invited to enroll in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention COVID-19 Vaccination Program so they can provide the vaccine to their patients.
Invitations to enroll will be based on the critical populations health care provider serve and where they fit within Colorado’s Phased Implementation Plan. To enroll as a vaccine provider, the health care provider must:
- Be credentialed/licensed in Colorado to possess or administer vaccines or provide vaccination services
- Sign and agree to the conditions in the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Program Provider Agreement
- Fully complete the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Provider Profile Form for each location where COVID-19 vaccine will be administered, even if owned under a larger corporate or parent organization
To express interest in becoming a vaccine provider, health care providers must complete an interest form. Providers can email [email protected] if they have questions about registration, enrollment or onboarding.
In addition to vaccine availability in health care provider offices, thanks to a federal pharmacy partnership program, during Phases 2 and 3 in the spring and summer, most residents will be able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine through one of 12 national pharmacy chains.
Similar to the Pharmacy Partnership for Long-term Care (LTC) Program which will begin providing vaccinations for staff and residents in skilled nursing facilities and long-term care facilities this week, the pharmacy partnership program will help to remove the burden of providing vaccination from under-resourced local public health agencies.
“By providing the vaccine through this pharmacy partnership in the spring and summer when there is greater supply, more people will be able to get the vaccine faster,” Gujral said. “This will help preserve public health resources for disease investigations, contact tracing, data analysis, enforcement and prevention activities.”
