Colorado, mirroring the Biden Administration’s actions for the federal marketplace, has opened a COVID Special Enrollment Period for any who are uninsured. Boulder County residents can get free, unbiased and confidential help enrolling in low-cost or even free health insurance from the county’s bilingual health coverage guides. Impact from COVID-19 is not necessary to get this assistance through the state’s insurance marketplace, Connect for Health Colorado. Those seeking health coverage assistance can contact the Boulder County Health Coverage Enrollment Center by emailing [email protected], or calling 303-441-1000. More information is also available at www.BoulderCountyHealthCoverage.org.

“We must do everything we can to provide access to affordable, adequate health coverage to individuals and families in Colorado,” said Dale Whyte, program manager, BCDHHS Enrollment Center. “Many of our neighbors are without health insurance due to the ongoing impacts of COVID-19. Now more than ever, adequate health coverage can help individuals and families stay well and prevent the spread of COVID-19.”

Boulder County residents can call 303-441-1000 (option 3) and leave a message to schedule a virtual appointment with an expert Health Coverage Guide. Visit www.BoulderCountyHealthCoverage.org or email HealthCoverage@BoulderCounty.org for more information about affordable health coverage or to schedule an appointment with an expert Health Coverage Guide. During appointments, bilingual, unbiased Guides can help community members confirm that they have the right coverage for their budgets and families, highlight available financial assistance, and answer other questions. Again, the COVID-19 Enrollment period for health coverage through Connect for Health Colorado ends May 8.

In addition to help through Boulder County Housing and Human Services, financial assistance as well as help with housing, food, and other supports are also available through community non-profit organizations such as Sister Carmen Community Center in Lafayette, EFAA in Boulder, and OUR Center in Longmont.
