NEWS RELEASE
BOULDER COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

Boulder County residents are invited to join the Board of County Commissioners for a Town Hall meeting on climate action, Thursday, Feb. 23, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Hygiene Fire Protection District, 7523 Hygiene Road.
Colorado communities are already experiencing the impacts of a warming climate in the form of reduced snowpack, earlier snowmelt, high intensity wildfires, extreme weather events, and an increased number of “high heat” days. Boulder County is taking action on the climate crisis through bold initiatives that cut greenhouse gas emissions, remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and help residents adapt and thrive in the face of climate change impacts.
“Boulder County is committed to kickstarting fresh ideas and creative solutions to tackle the climate crisis,” said Commissioner Marta Loachamin. “Grounding innovation and technology development through a place-based approach can advance equity and amplify outcomes that respond best to Boulder County resident needs. The Boulder County Commissioners look forward to sharing updates on the county’s work in this area and hearing from Hygiene residents at our upcoming Town Hall.”
Join the Commissioners and Zac Swank, deputy director of the Boulder County Office of Sustainability, Climate Action & Resilience (OSCAR) for a review of recent efforts to mitigate climate change locally, as well as conversation on local issues impacting Hygiene residents.
“I am thrilled to share exciting updates about some of the county’s recent climate successes including kickstarting an innovative table-to-farm movement, launching the world’s first local government coalition for carbon dioxide removal, and supporting sustainability milestones for the Marshall Fire rebuild,” said Swank. “I also look forward to discussing what lies ahead on the road to meeting our climate goals.”
