Coalton Trailhead and trails to remain closed through February due to Marshall Mesa fire damage

BOULDER COUNTY PARKS & OPEN SPACE

The Coalton Trailhead and the Meadowlark, Mayhoffer-Singletree, and Coalton trails will remain closed through February due to damage from the Marshall Fire. Staff is assessing trail and infrastructure damage and will make repairs as soon as possible, but storms and snow accumulation expected over the next month may delay reopening.

The fire caused damage to signs, fencing, and gates, and high winds caused surface trail damage. These repairs will need to be completed in order to reopen these trails safely. 

In addition, Boulder County Parks & Open Space lost 15 miles of burned agricultural fencing. Fencing repair and replacement will not delay the opening of the trails.

The total damage is currently estimated at a replacement cost of $400,000.

Updates on an opening date will be posted to boco.org/Coalton as well as shared on county open space Twitter and Facebook channels.
