The Colorado State Patrol is requesting any witnesses, including dash camera footage, to assist in identifying an unknown semi tractor that left the scene of a serious injury crash.

Troopers with the State Patrol were called to southbound Interstate 25 just south of 84th Ave at approximately 6:30 AM Tuesday, February 15.  The initial investigation revealed a 2016 Ford sedan had been southbound in the #4 (far right) lane, with the unknown semi tractor in the #3 lane.  The semi merged into the #4 lane, colliding with the Ford, causing the Ford to spin across multiple lanes to the HOV (far left) lane.  A 2003 Toyota SUV in the HOV lane collided its front into the side of the Ford.  The semi left the scene, while the Ford and Toyota remained.

The driver of the Ford, a 35 year old female from Westminster, was taken to N. Suburban Hospital with moderate injuries; her passenger, a 70 year old male from Westminster, was also transported to N. Suburban with serious injuries.  The driver of the Toyota, a 19 year old male from Erie, was not injured or transported.  All known parties were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Investigators were able to obtain dash cam footage of the crash itself as well as still shots of the unknown, white semi-truck. It is described as a single cab, white bobtail (no trailer). However, no license plate, VIN, or DOT information is visible in the footage. State Patrol is asking for anyone that was a witness to the crash or has any dash cam footage of the truck that might help identify it, to please contact our dispatch center at: 303-239-4501, reference case #1D220474. Any footage of southbound I25 around 84th Ave between approximately 6:20-6:30 AM is of particular importance.
