Community Foundation Boulder County has disbursed $515,000 in two grants to Impact on Education and Boulder Jewish Family Services for mental health support services to those directly and indirectly affected by the recent wildfires. The grant to Impact on Education will ensure additional behavioral health advocates are available at the most fire-affected schools in the Boulder Valley School District. The grant to Boulder Jewish Family Services will provide crisis counseling to anyone who needs it in individual and group settings, with trauma-informed practices.

“It's been five weeks since fires broke out in our community. While our vision to rebuild remains steadfast, there are many steps that we need to take together before we can get there. These five weeks have felt like five years and as the reality of the timeline becomes clearer, some may be struggling to maintain the energy and strength needed to continue to move forward,” said Tatiana Hernandez, CEO of Community Foundation Boulder County.

To date, the Community Foundation has distributed $7,665,000 which represents 28% of the over $27 million donated to the Wildfire Fund. All grants from the Wildfire Fund are made with the careful guidance of an advisory committee.

A breakdown of the Wildfire Fund’s grants as of today:

  • $265,000 to Impact on Education to ensure adequate mental health advocates at the most fire-affected schools in the Boulder Valley School District
  • $250,000 to Boulder Jewish Family Services to provide crisis counseling to anyone who needs it in individual and group settings, with trauma-informed practices
  • $5.5 million in direct financial assistance to households that were damaged or destroyed
  • $1.5 million in direct financial assistance to workers that lost wages or livelihood equipment
