Construction impacts for the week of July 16, 2023

Berthoud to Johnstown

Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., the left lanes of Colorado Highway 60 over I-25 will be closed for irrigation work.

A full closure of Larimer County Road 14 under the I-25 bridge remains in place through July 18 at 5 p.m. This will allow crews to safely place new roadway asphalt and pour new curbs where needed. Please follow posted detour signs:

• Westbound LCR 14 traffic will take the eastern Frontage Road north to Larimer County Road 16, turn left and take County Road 7 south and continue westbound on LCR 14.
• Eastbound LCR 14 traffic will take CR 7 north to LCR 16, turn right and take the eastern Frontage Road south and continue eastbound on LCR 14.

Reopened! Larimer County Road 16 under I-25

CDOT and the I-25 North Express Lanes Project have completed construction of new roadway under I-25, a new roundabout and an improved southbound I-25 exit ramp at Larimer County Road 16. Frequent heavy rainfall and standing water created many challenges, but through the efforts of the construction team, eastbound and westbound LCR 16 and the southbound I-25 exit ramp at this interchange reopened on schedule on Monday night, July 10. The new interchange improvements offer a safer drive for motorists and better efficiency in traffic movement. A new southbound I-25 on-ramp will also be completed later this fall.

Due to weather impacts, the full closure of the Western Frontage Road (County Road 5) south of LCR 16 will now be in place through the beginning of August. Please follow posted detour signs. Traffic will be diverted to County Road 7 between LCR 16 and LCR 14.

Johnstown to Fort Collins

To install signage over the roadway, a full closure of southbound I-25, between Crossroad Boulevard and US 34, will take place from 9 p.m., Sunday until 5 a.m., Monday.

• Southbound I-25 traffic will exit I-25 at exit 259/Crossroads Boulevard, head east to Centerra Parkway, proceed south on Centerra Parkway to US 34 and west on US 34 to the southbound I-25 on-ramp.

To move barrier on I-25, nightly single lane closures will take place on I-25 between Crossroads Boulevard and US 34 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday through Thursday.

Firestone Mobility Hub

Daytime work, Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. 

Southbound I-25

•  Southbound traffic will be shifted into the median into the summer months. Trucks may be entering or leaving the work zone. No lane changing in work zone - use caution.

The speed limit for SB I-25 is 55 MPH through the active work zone. The speed limit for NB I-25 has been temporarily increased to 65 MPH until further notice to ease congestion.

SB W. Frontage Rd./I-25 On-Ramp at Exit 240

• Left lane is closed 24/7 through August 2023.
• Construction crews will be working behind the barrier on the left shoulder.
• Flaggers will assist motorists through the construction work zone.
• CAUTION - Trucks will be entering and exiting from the work zone.

Northbound East I-25 Frontage Road

• Right shoulder closure. 
  • Construction crews will be working behind the cones/drums, prepping curb and gutter - Please use CAUTION.
  • Trucks entering and exiting the dirt lot west of Frontage Road.

Flaggers will assist motorists through the construction.

Construction activities are weather-dependent and subject to change. Please watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting mainline I-25 and obey all posted signage in construction zones. Your safety and the safety of our crews is our highest priority.

The I-25 North Express Lanes Project provides a Courtesy Patrol during commute hours (6 to 9 a.m. and 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.) to assist with disabled vehicles within the Project limits from Johnstown to Fort Collins.

About the Project

Communities along the I-25 North corridor are expanding rapidly, contributing to major economic growth in northern Colorado. The Colorado Department of Transportation is supporting this growth by delivering the expansion of I-25 North. Improvements are currently underway along I-25 between Berthoud and Fort Collins (with more to come from Mead to Berthoud).

This project brings economic, environmental and quality of life benefits for northern Coloradans by:

•  Decreasing travel time and increasing trip reliability.
